The Mochós Mocabe is a delicious dark roast coffee from the Mocabe cooperative in Mexico. The coffee is a sweet coffee with a full body and is thick and rich in taste. Discover taste notes of dark chocolate, caramel, burnt sugar and hazelnut. In the aftertaste you can taste a hint of licorice and bay leaf and a touch of fresh sweet raspberry. Delicious as espresso and Turkish coffee, but also very tasty from the cafetière! 

 

The coffee beans of the Mochós Mocabe come from the Chiapas region in the south of Mexico. The plantations are located between the mountain ranges of the Sierra Madre de Mendoza and the border of Guatemala. The diversity of altitude and the different microclimates create an area that is very suitable for growing arabica coffee. The organization Mocabe, where this coffee comes from, was founded here 22 years ago as a platform for small coffee farmers. These members call themselves 'Mochós', roughly translated “there is nothing here”. The story goes that when the Spanish settlers invaded the Mayan people's village and asked for the name of the village, the locals shouted “Mochó, Mochó!” called out. The name of this coffee can therefore be traced back to this organization and its members. The Mocabe organization was founded with the aim of offering the Mochós better coffee prices, providing loans at attractive interest rates and offering the opportunity to export their coffee. Today, the collaboration is increasingly focused on improving quality and minimizing the ecological impact of growing coffee. The result: a beautiful coffee with a beautiful background.
